WHY I RAN FOR OFFICE

I’m a Johnny-come-lately.  I really didn’t involve myself with local politics for decades.  Just kept my head down, worked hard and helped put bread on the table for my family.

As our kids started graduating from university, money wasn’t as important and I found myself diving into how local leaders were impacting the citizens of El Paso.  Not good, at all.

I decided to use my abilities as a graphic designer, writer, photographer and conceptual thinker to engineer a run for office on a platform that no one was talking about.  While victory was anything but assured (I didn’t win) I was more interested in having a public stage to create conversation about some of the most pressing issues facing El Pasoans.

Following are various cogs in the big wheel of my campaign for City Council.

Jud Burgess

CAMPAIGN WEBSITE

I designed a website on the Squarespace platform.  Everything you needed to know about Jud Burgess and then some could be found here.  Vision for El Paso, Top 5 Reasons to vote for Jud Burgess, family history, work experience, Let’s Go El Paso! blog, the $100,000,000 idea that saves El Paso $80,000,000, media exposure links, etc.

ROTATING DIGITAL BILLBOARDS

I paid for a weeks worth of digital billboard exposures along areas with high traffic in my district.  By going digital I was able to get 6 different messages out to the public as opposed to just one for a month, costing more than twice as much.  My messages only came up for 8 seconds every minute but I was happy with the compromise.  I was more interested in getting several viewpoints out there.
