I wake up Monday morning to the sickening news that fifty plus Americans enjoying a country western concert in Las Vegas have just been shot dead like fish in a bowl. More than 400 have been injured, many critically and hanging on to their breath.
Another day, another American record set for mass murder by the hands of a sick person wielding weapons of mass destruction here in our own backyard.
Promises of thoughts and prayers by Republican politicians fall flat and ring empty like they always do after such a staggering loss of human life.
The talking heads on the 24/7 news greet each other with “Good mornings” as if this was just another day, another news cycle.
This is what we have become.

The NRA has been holding our country hostage and their bought and paid for politicians at every level of government hold the keys to the handcuffs.
Will they see things differently this time around?
The mass shooting deaths of 49 LGBTQ people at the Pulse nightclub in Miami 18 months ago didn’t move them.
It could’ve been because they were gay. Or that they were people of color, mostly Latino. Or maybe because the shooter was a gay Muslim.
This time around its dozens of young country western fans that look a lot like them. They listen to the same music and go the same churches. Many victims might even be NRA members given the stereotypes.
I’m not trying to stoke racial divides here but this mass shooting does beg the question and I will ask it.
Will the NRA finally get it?

It has NEVER been about taking away American’s guns or our right to bear arms.
It has always been about COMMON SENSE.
You want to shoot a 14 point buck?
Fine. Just don’t do it with a semi-automatic AR-15.
You want to by a Ruger firearm at a gun show?
Fine. Let’s just run a background check on you to make sure you don’t have priors or have been institutionalized lately.
You want to buy a silencer for your firearms so you can fire your weapon without a sound? Hell NO!
Today’s politics are not about serving the best interests of Americans.
It’s about money, power, dominance, hierarchy, class, race, partisanship.
It’s about winning the argument regardless of the cost.
And it comes at a terrible price…
a price we could never afford, especially on a day like today.
