Michael Flynn has found religion.
Call it Flynn’s come to Jesus moment.
The typical 9th-hour conversion that lawbreakers experience when they find themselves in over their heads.
The biggest prize in Mueller’s Russia investigation has just copped to lying to the FBI and Pandora’s Box is seeing a sliver of daylight.
In response to his confession, Flynn stated the following —
“It has been extraordinarily painful to endure these many months of false accusations of treason, but I recognize that the actions I acknowledged in court today were wrong, and, through my faith in God, I am working to set things right.”
I will not question his faith but Flynn will need the strength of the God’s legions of angels as he admits to things that Trump, his family and many powerful Trump allies have denied all along.
He is naming names in Trump’s transition team who coached him with talking points on discussions he had with Soviet ambassador Sergey Kislyak, whom he lied to the FBI about.
Keep in mind this guilty plead by Flynn doesn’t implicate the president or anyone else but is another small step in the long and winding road in fully opening the Pandora’s Box of the Russia investigations.
It signals a willingness by one of the most important components from Trump’s inner circle to come clean and be forthright with investigators, making their job much easier and eventual convictions more likely.
Remember James Comey and the words Trump quietly shared with him regarding Flynn when things were just starting to detonate?
“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go,” Comey quoted Trump as saying. “He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”
Flynn is here and he’s not going anywhere.
He’s become a praying man.
Trump had better start getting on his knees at night, because God justice will eventually be served.
