El Paso’s mayoral candidates were asked at a recent League of Women Voters of El Paso forum to grade our city council on their overall performance.
Six candidates graded the council and two chose not to.
Drumroll please…
Dee Margo gave them a D.
David Saucedo gave them an F.
Willie Cager gave them a D.
Emma Acosta gave them (and by default herself) a D–.
Elisa Morales gave them an F.
Charles Stapler have them a D–.
WahWaahWaaah.

When you have 6 mayoral candidates grading our current crop of council reps with nothing better than a D then we have a unanimous consensus of mediocrity and abject failure plaguing City Hall.
Ethics issues. A serious lack of fiscal responsibility. A glaring lack of transparency. A continuing lack of communication with their constituents. Division. Petty squabbling. Neglect.
You get the picture.

I am running to replace Jim Tolbert because he has let District 2 down as our representative. He landed the seat on a platform of ethics and integrity.
Have you even heard him utter the word “ethics” or “integrity” in his current campaign to hold onto his seat?
OF COURSE NOT!
Tolbert has been surrounded by ethics and integrity issues during his first 8 months in office and can’t with a straight face even begin to talk about ethics and integrity this time around.
Click this link to see the deep ethical hole he has dug himself into.

This City Council has issues with me…because I have issues with them and am not afraid to go mano a mano with them.
I WILL DO WHAT IT TAKES
to get our financial house back in order and to make sure El Paso taxpayers aren’t burdened by unnecessary debt as has been the case for some time now.
I WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT
to refocus attention on District 2, where the average person earns $3,500 – 5,000 less than the average El Pasoan and HALF of what the average Texan earns.
D2 businesses need to catch a break as well.
A lot of our needs have been ignored because of the focus on downtown. Streets continue to remain unpaved. Neighborhoods are dark because city lights are few. Traffic concerns. The list goes on.

Our current City Council reps have no problems showering downtown investors, property owners and special interests with our dollars along with tax incentives that get them off the hook for several years while we continue to be among the highest taxed citizens in America in respect to our annual incomes.
It’s time for a change.
The days of City Council failure will soon be behind us.
Let’s get that City Council grade up to a B.
Let’s Go El Paso!
